Brazil votes today in Lula vs. Flávio Bolsonaro presidential race
Brazilians vote Sunday in the first round of the presidential election. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, 80, is seeking a fourth nonconsecutive term against Sen. Flávio Bolsonaro, 45, son of former President Jair Bolsonaro and an ally of President Trump. Final polls show Lula ahead in the first round, with a potential runoff close. A candidate needs more than 50% of valid votes to win outright; otherwise the top two meet in a runoff on Oct. 25.
