Chemistry Nobel goes to Henri Kagan and Kenso Soai for mirror-image molecule research

France's Henri Kagan and Japan's Kenso Soai won the 2026 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for work in asymmetric chemistry, the study of molecules that exist as non-identical mirror images. Nobel committee chair Heiner Linke said they resolved a century-old mystery of how homochirality can emerge spontaneously. The prize is worth 12 million Swedish kronor.
