U.S. intelligence memo warns Iranian plots against Americans have reached advanced stages
Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton sent an unclassified memo Friday to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, copying CIA Director John Ratcliffe, saying Iran has "substantially increased efforts to target U.S. personnel" and that lethal plotting against U.S. citizens has "reached advanced stages in both the Middle East and certain other countries." The memo does not name specific targets or countries, or say whether attacks may be imminent. U.S. officials confirmed it is authentic; Axios first reported it. It follows the State Department's order for non-emergency U.S. government staff to leave Saudi Arabia.
