Judge lets McRib 'no rib meat' lawsuit against McDonald's move forward
U.S. District Judge April Perry in Chicago rejected McDonald's bid to dismiss a proposed class action claiming the McRib is shaped and marketed like ribs but contains no rib meat. Consumer deception, fraud and unjust enrichment claims proceed; five other claims were dismissed. The ruling does not find that McDonald's misled anyone. McDonald's denies the claims and says the McRib is made with 100% pork from U.S. farmers and suppliers.

Why it matters
The case is about whether the McRib's name and rib-like shape lead buyers to expect rib meat. The judge said it was too early to throw the claims out, but the ruling does not find that McDonald's misled anyone, and McDonald's denies the allegations.
