Hurricane Polo makes landfall in Baja California Surdeveloping
Hurricane Polo made landfall early Tuesday near Las Barrancas in Mexico's Baja California Sur as a Category 2 storm with 110 mph winds, the AP reports. By 2 a.m. MST the National Hurricane Center had it at 80 mph near Loreto, crossing the peninsula before moving over southern Sonora later Tuesday morning, with 6 to 12 inches of rain possible in parts of Baja California Sur. Forecasters expect heavy rain and flooding in the U.S. Southwest later in the week, including Arizona, Utah, New Mexico and Texas.

Iran says it expects a U.S. answer on its Hormuz plandeveloping
After indirect talks through Qatari mediators in New York on Monday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran expects a formal U.S. response, hopefully on Tuesday, to its proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. President Trump confirmed indirect talks took place but gave no details.
