Tropical Storm Isaias formed in the southwestern Gulf with 40 mph winds. The National Hurricane Center expects it to become a hurricane before reaching the northern Gulf Coast late this week, with landfall possible between eastern Louisiana and the western Florida Panhandle. It would be the first hurricane of the 2026 Atlantic season. Heavy rain is expected Friday into the weekend.

Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi rebels said they launched dawn drone and ballistic missile attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Abha airport and Saudi military sites. The Saudi-led coalition says it intercepted missiles, including one north of Riyadh. Missiles and drones were also aimed at Aden's airport in Yemen, where a flight was diverted. The escalation follows heavy fighting along Yemen's Red Sea coast.

Nobel committee chair Heiner Linke said they resolved a century-old mystery of how homochirality can emerge spontaneously. The prize is worth 12 million Swedish kronor.
