Cyberattack hits fridges in hundreds of French supermarkets
A cyberattack remotely triggered forced defrosting of refrigeration systems in hundreds of French supermarkets, spoiling food and causing fires at some stores. Intermarché and its Netto brand had at least 300 shops targeted, Coopérative U more than 100, and Carrefour 80. Paris prosecutors opened an investigation into a "large-scale" attack. France's cybersecurity agency identified a vulnerability in software from Danish company Danfoss, which said most affected equipment was outdated and no longer received updates.
