Forecasters watch a Gulf disturbance that could become a tropical storm
The National Hurricane Center gives a disturbance in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico a high chance of becoming at least a tropical depression this week as it drifts slowly north. Forecasters say heavy rain is the main threat for the northern Gulf Coast and Florida, possibly by the weekend, and that strong upper-level winds may limit how strong it gets. Its exact track is still uncertain.
