Canadian writer Anne Carson wins the Nobel Prize in Literature

Anne Carson, the 76-year-old Canadian poet, translator and classics scholar, won the 2026 Nobel Prize in Literature. The Swedish Academy cited her "bold and inventive oeuvre" that has created new forms for contemporary literature in playful dialogue with the classical tradition. The prize is worth 12 million Swedish crowns, about $1.2 million.
