Minneapolis mayor nominates Bill Peterson as police chief

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey nominated interim Police Chief Bill Peterson, a 30-year department veteran, to lead the Minneapolis Police Department permanently. Peterson has been interim chief since former Chief Brian O'Hara left in May, and had said he did not want the permanent job. The City Council must approve the nomination.
